Klopp’s talent, of course, had a significant role in Liverpool’s title victory. Despite earning his third domestic league title, with the instruments at his disposal, he contributed significantly to Liverpool’s success.
The defense was the finest in the Premier League that season. The 33 goals conceded were assisted by Brazilian international Alisson’s 13 clean sheets. Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, and Trent Alexander-Arnold created the wall in front of Alisson.

By the time the second goal arrived, Manchester City had regrouped to lead 3-2. Liverpool failed to put pressure on City, allowing them to win their sixth Premier League title.
A similar outcome occurred in the 2018/19 season. It was Liverpool versus Manchester City on the last day.
Different from the previous season, Manchester City turned the game around in the 75th minute, defeating Brighton 4-1. Liverpool finished second despite garnering 97 points, the most ever claimed by a team without winning the title.
When you think about Liverpool’s heartbreaking defeat, other memories come to mind. The 2013/14 season saw Gerrard slip and Crystal Palace implode.
In the 2008/09 season, they suffered costly draws at home to Stoke, Hull, Fulham, West Ham, and Arsenal, allowing their arch-rivals Manchester United to win the league for the third time in a row, equaling the then-record 18 titles.
