We witnessed this when Omar Berrada joined from Manchester City in late January to take over as CEO.
Following this, we heard a lot about who United wanted for the positions of sports director and technical director, but none emerged.
This has now changed, as United announced on Friday night that Southampton’s Jason Wilcox has been named as the club’s technical director.
He now joins Berrada as two former Manchester City players running the show at Carrington.
This is a significant appointment, and it is probable that United will finally have someone in control of the summer transfer window, since Dan Ashworth’s move has not to be finalized.
So, now that the acquisition has been completed, we’ve looked at three things to anticipate, including the appointment of a technical director.

The only post left to fill is sports director, and we already know Ashworth is the top priority, so it’s simply a matter of time.
Now that Wilcox has arrived, it stands to reason that United will be anxious to get Ashworth in sooner rather than later, which might lead to some significant events in the coming weeks.
United are reported to be keen on bringing Ashworth in before the summer so that he can play a key part in recruiting choices.
Now that he’s the only one left to sign, it wouldn’t be unexpected to see Ashworth discussions intensify, even if it means United must pay the compensation.
While Wilcox is an all-around superb football thinker, he has a specific talent for the young side of the game, making him an ideal match for Old Trafford.
The Carrington academy is already a very good squad, with the U18s winning the Premier League championship this week.
But Wilcox was one of the guys behind the City academy, which produced Phil Foden, United star Jadon Sancho, and current target Tosin Adarabioyo.
We anticipate Wilcox to collaborate closely with Darren Fletcher to bring bright young players into both the academy and the main squad.
This might make transactions for Aaron Anselmino more plausible than they were in previous weeks.
