Manchester United is set to face a late kick-off challenge away to Brentford in the Premier League tonight.
The match, scheduled for 8 pm in West London on Easter Saturday, poses a logistical challenge for the team. However, this is not the end of their late fixture struggles, as they are also slated for another late kick-off away at Chelsea on Thursday night.
In a rare move, Manchester United has decided to delay their departure on the day of the away game. This decision, as reported by the Manchester Evening News, aims to provide certain players with additional time to recover from injuries or illnesses before the journey to London.
One player drawing attention is Kobbie Mainoo, an 18-year-old midfielder. Erik ten Hag confirmed that Mainoo missed training on Thursday due to illness. Despite this setback, Mainoo was spotted at the Carrington training complex on Friday.
Regarding Mainoo’s condition, Ten Hag stated to reporters, “Yesterday he skipped training because he was ill. I don’t know if he will be fit for Brentford. We hope. Today he is here (in training), not fully recovered but we still have many hours before tomorrow with kick-off at 8pm.”
The scheduling of late fixtures poses challenges not only for the team but also for the fans. With no train available to transport supporters back to Manchester after the match, many will face additional expenses for hotel stays on top of their match tickets and travel costs.
Despite the challenges posed by late kick-off times and travel logistics, Manchester United remains focused on securing a victory against Brentford. Adding another three points to their season tally is crucial for their ongoing campaign.
