Manchester United and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have reached an agreement regarding a new off-field venture at Old Trafford, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
The year 2024 has been eventful for Ratcliffe and INEOS, following their assumption of control over sporting decisions at Manchester United from the Glazers.
Collaborating with Sir Dave Brailsford, Ratcliffe has orchestrated significant changes, appointing Omar Berrada as CEO from Manchester City and expressing interest in acquiring Dan Ashworth from Newcastle United as sporting director.
Regarding the managerial position, several names have surfaced as potential replacements for Erik ten Hag, including Roberto De Zerbi from Brighton, Gareth Southgate from the England national team, Ange Postecoglou from Tottenham Hotspur, Thomas Frank from Brentford, and Gary O’Neil from Wolves.
Ratcliffe has also outlined his transfer policy, indicating a reluctance to engage in lavish spending.
When questioned about potential signings like Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe, Ratcliffe emphasized the importance of prudent recruitment and finding emerging talent rather than relying solely on expensive acquisitions.
In regards to Mbappe, who is poised to join Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain, Ratcliffe expressed a preference for discovering the next generation of talent rather than pursuing high-priced signings.
With the transfer window approaching, Manchester United and Ratcliffe are poised to reinforce their technical staff.
Southampton’s Jason Wilcox, who was previously linked with a move to Manchester, has reportedly resigned from his position at St. Mary’s and is now on the verge of joining Manchester United.
According to Romano, Wilcox has agreed to terms with the Red Devils for the proposed Old Trafford move.
The addition of Wilcox to Ratcliffe’s team signals a strengthening of the club’s behind-the-scenes infrastructure, with the former Manchester City head of academy earning praise from Southampton manager Russell Martin for his integrity and contributions to the club’s culture.
