According to a source, Christian Eriksen, a midfielder for Manchester United, plans to turn down a substantial offer from Saudi Arabia as well as a four-time European champion in order to play for another English team.
Eriksen had consistent playing time for Manchester United both during the previous season and at the beginning of this one, but since suffering a knee injury in late November, he has dropped in the standings. Eriksen has been benched more and more by Erik ten Hag, and this has coincided with Kobbie Mainoo’s emergence at Man Utd.
The central midfielder hasn’t played for Man Utd in the previous five Premier League games, and since December, he hasn’t completed a full 90 minutes in any league.
In March, Eriksen said that he is “unhappy” with his circumstances at Old Trafford during the international break. Eriksen said he has discussed his displeasure with Ten Hag, but neither of them can take any concrete action at this point since Mainoo is so bright.
As part of their roster restructure, Man Utd will sell the Dane this summer, according to a second source that verified the news on March 31.
In the next months, Eriksen will reportedly be connected to other teams, according to Danish publication Tipsbladet.
It is anticipated that he would get lucrative contract offers from Turkey and Saudi Arabia. In the transfer battle, Ajax may also win, allowing Eriksen to rejoin the team he played for from 2009 to 2013.
However, Eriksen’s Saudi suitors and Ajax, who have won the Champions League and European Cup four times each, are in for a letdown since Tipsbladet reports that the 32-year-old will almost certainly rejoin Brentford.
Manchester United player to rejoin Brentford
Since the West London club took a risk on Eriksen in January 2022 when he returned to football after a cardiac attack at Euro 2020, Eriksen is seriously contemplating joining them again.
After establishing a strong combination with striker Ivan Toney and contributing one goal and four assists in 11 games, Eriksen swiftly established himself as one of Brentford’s most vital players.
However, the former Tottenham Hotspur player was only at Brentford for six months as Man Utd quickly signed him on a free transfer once his contract expired in the summer of 2022.
