Reports say that several Premier League teams want to sign Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood on loan.
Next month, the 22-year-old’s season-long loan at Getafe ends. It looks like his future is still as uncertain as it was when he was sent to the La Liga team a year ago.
Greenwood has not played for Manchester United since January 2022, when he played in a 1-0 Premier League win against West Ham United at Old Trafford.
He wasn’t allowed to play for Manchester United after being arrested on accusations of rape, attack, and controlling and intimidating behaviour.
Even though the charges were later dropped, he was moved to Getafe over the summer and has done very well there, hitting six goals and setting up five others in 25 La Liga games. This has led the club to try to extend his stay in Madrid.
United hasn’t made a final choice on Greenwood’s future yet, and since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became a part-owner of Manchester United, the new owner hasn’t ruled out the 22-year-old returning to Manchester.
The club decided not to bring the player back into the team last summer after his charges were dropped because they were afraid it would hurt their image and get bad feedback from the women’s team.
Reports from the Daily Mail say that United will have plenty of offers for their school pupil by the end of the 2023–24 season. The newspaper says that clubs from all over Europe have already shown interest, along with several Premier League teams.
Lazio tried to get the England player on loan last year, and they might look into it again at the end of this season.
On January 19, 2022, Mason Greenwood played for Manchester United.
According to Reuters
Greenwood was also said to be wanted by Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus. But Manchester United is said to want around £30 million to sell him, which clubs like Barcelona and Juventus can’t agree to because they don’t have the money.
The chance that Greenwood will be moved out again at the end of the season is still there.
Greenwood’s current deal at Old Trafford ends in the summer of 2025, but Manchester United can add another year to it if they want to.
The English player played 129 times for Manchester United and scored 35 goals and set up 12 others from 2018 to 2023.
