The reported transfer fee for the highly regarded Argentine defender Aaron Anselmino has been communicated to Manchester United, according to reports.
Especially this season, the Red Devils have struggled at center defence due to a steady flow of injuries that have made consistency an issue for the club both in domestic and European games this season.
As a result of the Argentine’s injury, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane, who have been the most active and informed defenders right now, have had very little opportunity to continue the friendship they established last season.
According to ESPN, United will be targeting new center-backs massively this summer transfer window since only Martinez is guaranteed a starting spot for the next season. which is why a name has been resonating from the desk of the Red Devil’s.
Aaron Anselmino
Now, rumours circulating have it that AC Milan and Manchester United have both shown interest in 18-year-old Aaron Anselmino, courtesy of an article in the Argentine publication Planeta Boca Juniors.
In response to this interest in the teenage defender during the January transfer window, the Argentine powerhouses wasted no time in agreeing to another contract extension that would keep him at the club (Boca Junior) until 2028.
The release clause in his existing agreement was increased to £15 million, and his income was increased as well as a result of the new contract he signed with Boca.
Boca apparently wanted to avoid losing another star for as little as $10 million, similar to when they lost Valentin Barco to Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton & Hove Albion in previous transfer window, but they were looking to make sure it was right this time.
Nonetheless, the clause has just been raised to about £25 million, which is an incredibly high figure for a defender who is only 18 years old.
Although there is certainly some risk involved in attempting to finalize a transaction of this kind, the new management must make signings of this nature if we are to compete with Liverpool and Manchester City in the years to come.
More about Aaron Anselmino
The 18-year-old Argentinean has made only five first-team appearances for the Primera Division club, and he plays mostly as a center-back. Therefore, signing him may be risky.
Still, he’s a good match for what the Red Devils supposedly want, since there is a rumor that Raphel Verane will leave Manchester United this summer. If the rumours were true that Varane would leave Old Trafford this summer, he could play on the right side of defense.
It’s high time the Red Devils, renown for their youth academy output, tried to follow the lead of other major teams and look into recruiting young, reasonably priced players.
