Radek Vitek, who is currently on loan from Manchester United, played well for League Two opponents Accrington Stanley despite the defeat (2-1).
In the second and sixty-third minutes of the match, respectively, Mansfield took a commanding lead thanks to goals from George Maris and Stephen Quinn.
As time ran down in the first half of regulation, Accrington stunned their opponents by cutting the score in half. Still, Nigel Clough’s squad didn’t let up and secured second place in the league with the win.
Along the same lines, Accrington dropped to 18th place, tied with Tranmere for points but ahead of them on goal differential, and one point ahead of Swindon.
There were fourteen attempts on goal for Vitek in the match against Mansfield, and five of them needed him to react quickly.
The Czech international performed an incredible three saves in goal, preventing the ball from going in despite taking five shots. Two of the goalkeeper’s saves were made close to the penalty area.
On one occasion, Vitek had to take sweeping action by quickly leaving his position. He successfully fled his territory.
There were 56 times he touched the ball.
Only 19 of the 20-year-old’s 49 pass efforts were successful in finding his Accrington colleagues. Although he attempted 37 long passes, he was only successful 7 times.
With a single clearing, Vitek was able to win the one ground duel he engaged in.
It is off to Stockport for Accrington’s next commission. Vitek will be making his 17th appearance for John Doolan’s team in League Two for this encounter.
