Manchester United is said to be hoping to reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund so that Jadon Sancho can return permanently in the summer. The 24-year-old’s departure would make it easier for United to sign a new player along with their planned chase of a striker. There are several choices in the Premier League and elsewhere.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is going to ask for £45 million to get rid of Sancho, and Dortmund has agreed to be the first team to try to sign him.
Express Sport looks at four possible replacements for the England player this summer if Ratcliffe decides to cut United’s losses.
Mike Olise
Michael Olise, a winger for Crystal Palace, is the player United is most likely to sign before the end of the season.
Standard Sport says that the Red Devils want to improve the right wing by adding Olise as one of the first players under Ratcliffe.
It is said that both teams are interested in the 22-year-old, who is getting ready to leave Selhurst Park after turning down a move to Chelsea last summer.
It would be even less likely that Antony would play again after Olise joined the team; Alejandro Garnacho was already ahead of the Brazilian flop in the rankings.
Nico Williams
Nico Williams, a winger for Athletic Bilbao, is being linked with a move to the Premier League this summer. The two teams with the most links are Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
This season, the 21-year-old has scored six goals and set up 14 others. Athletic are apparently getting ready for life without him.
His £43 million release clause is probably too good of a deal to pass up, and United could easily afford it if Dortmund meet their asking price for Sancho.
Williams can play on either side, but he likes playing on the left more. This would give Marcus Rashford much-needed company.
Pedro Neto
Pedro Neto is another young winger who is rumoured to be getting a big move this summer, even though he keeps getting hurt.
Liverpool and Manchester City are said to be fans of the 24-year-old because they were pleased by what he did for Wolves when he was healthy.
He has only been able to start 19 games across all tournaments this season, but he has set up 11 goals and scored three himself.
Even though United has had medical problems this season, they might be willing to take a chance on him. However, his expected asking price of around £60m might be too high.
