Manchester United have been linked with hiring Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel to replace Erik ten Hag this summer, but presenter Mark Goldbridge believes he would be a ‘terrible match’ for the Red Devils.
According to reports, United have already contacted Tuchel about taking over at Old Trafford, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe reaching out to the German manager. Bayern stated earlier this season that they had decided to split ways with Tuchel in the summer, and he might be returning to the Premier League if INEOS has their way.
On Monday morning, Goldbridge responded to the notion that United may attempt to employ Tuchel in the summer to replace ten Hag, implying that he would be a terrible fit at Old Trafford…
If you’re going to support Tuchel all day, at least do your research. Arguably the most destructive and power-hungry coach in contemporary sport. He fell out with the sporting directors of Dortmund, PSG, and Chelsea because he believed he knew better. He did not. Awful match for what INEOS wants.
Tuchel’s failures with his past two teams, including being fired by Chelsea and losing the Bundesliga championship to Bayer Leverkusen, may have concerned United fans. The 50-year-old has undoubtedly earned a lot of praise in his prior jobs, but his current track record may be cause for worry.
There’s no assurance that INEOS will make a change in the dugout at the conclusion of the season, but journalist Ryan Taylor believes ten Hag won’t make it through the summer. Despite reaching the FA Cup final, United have clearly failed to improve this season, with Champions League participation appearing doubtful.
When a new owner takes over a football team, they often want to bring in their own personnel behind the scenes, and new faces offer new ideas. The Old Trafford backroom crew will be making arrangements in case they believe a new manager is needed.
