Erik ten Hag says Rasmus Hojlund will be “hugely important” to Manchester United’s chances of having a good end to the season. Hojlund scored his first goal in over two months this week.
It was the first goal scored by the Danish forward in seven games. He scored after Bruno Fernandes sent in a low ball, which sealed a 4-2 win over Sheffield United.
Hojlund had a hard time making an impact on the game, but he showed his hunting instincts by running to the back post at the perfect time and sliding in to secure a crucial win.
United still has a very small chance of making it into the Champions League at the end of the season, but they would have had to beat Sheffield United at Old Trafford in order to do that.
Hojlund still has a long way to go to get over his recent problems, but Ten Hag is sure that his goal for midweek could be the start of a new era.
“After he got hurt, the rhythm is over.” Ten Hag told reporters after the comeback win, “Now he’s back, and that was his goal. It was very important for him to come back.”
“He’ll feel good about himself, which is important for strikers.” Score goals, and I’m happy for him and the team. He’ll be very important in the coming weeks. We need to work together to reach our goals. No matter what, we need as many scorers on the game as possible. That means Garnacho, Bruno, and Rasmus coming back.
