Fabrizio Romano has said that one Manchester United player earning £120,000 per week “will not stay at Old Trafford” this summer.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s new co-owner, is preparing for what may be a very busy first summer in control of sports choices in Manchester.
He has hired Omar Berrada as chief executive from Manchester City and Jason Wilcox as technical director from Southampton, with Newcastle United’s Dan Ashworth expected to follow suit as sports director.
They may have to make a choice on the future of manager Erik ten Hag, since Ratcliffe does not want to remove the Dutchman from his job before the season ends.
However, a number of possibilities have previously been linked to taking over from Ten Hag, including Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel. Meanwhile, former Chelsea manager Graham Potter is another top contender at Old Trafford.
Some high-paid players may be on their way out. Raphael Varane is poised to go in the summer, and Ratcliffe is also ready to trade Casemiro, the two highest-paid United players, earning more than £300,000 per week.
The Manchester Evening News reported in March that up to 21 players may go during the summer transfer window, and Romano has now provided an update on one of those individuals.

Donny van de Beek has been out on loan at German club Eintracht Frankfurt, and according to GiveMeSport, Romano has been “told” that United have “already explored other possibilities around Europe” for the player, who “will not stay at Old Trafford”.
“The impression is that Donny van de Beek will return to Manchester United this summer since Eintracht Frankfurt has opted not to exercise the purchase option in his loan agreement. So, van de Beek will return to Manchester United, but he will not remain; according to my sources, United has already examined alternative options in Europe for the Dutch midfielder to go this summer. He will be available on the market and will not remain at Old Trafford.”
Van van Beek has had another forgettable season, appearing in just seven Bundesliga games for Frankfurt since signing on loan in January, totaling 344 minutes.

As a result, removing his £120,000-per-week pay off the books at Old Trafford seems to make sense for United, and it will be intriguing to watch if his next move away will be another loan or a permanent exit, given that he is under contract in Manchester until 2025.
