Ten Hag’s employment is at jeopardy if performances do not improve, with Graham Potter being mentioned as a possible successor.
According to writer Ben Jacobs, Jason Wilcox intends to seek a cultural change at Manchester United.
The new United technical director is expected to bring a hands-on approach to the club, aiming to enhance both on and off the field at Old Trafford.
Wilcox was the previous director of football at Southampton and also served as an academy director at Manchester City.
Wilcox Demands Manchester United Culture Improvement
Ten Hag must make significant adjustments in the next weeks.
According to Jacobs, the new manager at Old Trafford is particularly interested in improving the club’s general culture and working environment.
He said:
“What has been made clear is that he’s going to be very hands on, which you would expect from a technical director and that the culture at the club on and off the pitch is deemed to be very important.”
United’s culture has been believed to be terrible for numerous years, with promising players unable to grow on the field and major issues off the ball, including excessive staff turnover in key positions. Wilcox is expected to demand significant changes in the club’s culture and atmosphere as United strives to reclaim their Premier League status in the coming years.
Ten Hag has not been told to change styles yet.
While Wilcox has wanted adjustments to United’s working environment, he has yet to make specific demands on a style of play. Ten Hag has been chastised for failing to instill a clear philosophy and style during his two years at the club, as the Red Devils continue to struggle for consistency in both results and performances.
Jacobs added:
“So what Wilcox, I’m told, has asked for is not so much a set style, and he hasn’t really had any influence over Ten Hag or the football side yet because he’s just getting to know them all.”
United’s on-field style has been mostly reactive and negative under Ten Hag, with the club expected to finish seventh in the Premier League this season.
United may replace Ten Hag if necessary.
Graham Potter has been connected.
Graham Potter oversaw a training session during his Chelsea tenure.
If the Dutch manager fails to enhance the club’s culture, as well as its on-field performance and results, United will consider hiring a new head coach. According to Sun writer Alan Nixon, Wilcox has informed Ten Hag that if adjustments are not made, his position may not be secure.
Nixon also said that Graham Potter, a manager who is presently unemployed, may be the front-runner to take over after creating an outstanding culture at Brighton and introducing an appealing style of play.
Potter had an unfortunate period at Chelsea before being stripped of his responsibilities, but he may have a lot to offer the Red Devils.
