Alan Shearer has said that he has never seen a more well-rounded footballer than a former Manchester United player.
Over the years, Manchester United have had some really remarkable players.
When Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge, he had access to a plethora of world-class superstars, which contributed to his trophy haul.
Shearer famously rejected down the opportunity to join Manchester United.
But he has seen no more well-rounded footballer than one who spent more than a decade at Manchester United.
There can be no doubt that Wayne Rooney is among the all-time greats of the sport.
After signing with Manchester United from Everton in 2004, the Englishman had 13 incredible years playing for United.
Prior to his 2017 free transfer, Rooney won eleven trophies while playing for Manchester United, including five Premier League crowns, one Champions League trophy, and more.
Even though Rooney has been out of the game for more than three years, we still feel that he doesn’t always receive the credit he deserves.
Even though he was sensational for Manchester United, he is sorely underappreciated when discussing the greatest players to ever play in the Premier League.
But Alan Shearer still remembers how fantastic Rooney was.
When asked to pick the most complete player on the most recent episode of the Rest is Football podcast’s question and answer session, Shearer sprung into action, shouting out “Wayne Rooney!”
“No, it wasn’t a bad call; despite being a striker, he probably covered the entire pitch for the most part,” Gary Lineker said in response.
Luis Suarez or Wayne Rooney — Gerard Pique’s picks
Gerard Pique played on one of the best Barcelona teams of all time and faced up against some really legendary players.
Luis Suarez was an undeniably great player, and the Spaniard played beside him at the Camp Nou for many years.
On his best days, the ex-Liverpool player was unstoppable, and few strikers can be compared to him.
Pique was asked not long ago to choose between Wayne Rooney, a great of Manchester United, and Luis Suarez.
While Rooney was at the height of his career, the ex-Barcelona player declared: “I would say Wazza, Rooney was incredible!”
You should now know all there is to know about Rooney.
