In the summer, Manchester United will try to get a striker. There are a few different paths Manchester United could take this summer to find a new striker. They might even look at teams in smaller leagues.
It’s clear that United needs more weapons. They spent a lot of money on Rasmus Hojlund in July, but the Dane has had a rough first season at Old Trafford.
Hojlund has scored 13 goals in all competitions since moving from Atalanta to the Premier League. He has scored seven goals in six games in a row, breaking up periods of no goals as he gets used to the faster pace of the league. The young man, 21, has shown a lot of potential, but he also needs help.
Erik ten Hag told the Manchester Evening News that United is already planning to replace Anthony Martial with a forward in the summer. After nine unsuccessful and dull seasons, the Frenchman’s deal ends at the end of the season. He will be leaving Old Trafford.
Several high-priced players, like Victor Osihmen, Harry Kane, Ivan Toney, and even Kylian Mbappe, have been tied to Manchester United, even though most of them aren’t likely to come to the city.
It’s also not a good use of money to take a big chance on another shooter when other parts of the team need to be strengthened. They have faith in Hojlund.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United’s new co-owner, has already said that the club may approach the transfer market in a different way than in the past.
When asked if he would be interested in bidding for Mbappe, he said, “I would rather sign the next Mbappe than spend a fortune on success.” It’s not very smart to buy Mbappe. That one was easy for everyone to figure out. It will be harder to find the next Mbappe, Bellingham, or Keane.
Young player Baylee Dipepa from Port Vale is one that United is thought to have watched. The 17-year-old forward has been getting great reviews in League One, even though Vale is having a rough time. He scored another amazing goal by himself on Saturday at home against Exeter City. Before his left-foot shot found the net, the young player picked up the ball on the sideline and moved past several players to get into the box.
United scouts watched as he scored another great goal on his own last month against Bristol Rovers. The forward for England U17 has also been great for the Three Lions this season, scoring three goals in three games.
Matt Hancock, the CEO of the Valiants, has said that they may have a hard time keeping the player, but they haven’t heard from anyone interested in the youth yet because his contract isn’t up until 2026.
Before Dipepa scored that amazing goal over the weekend, Hancock told The Valiant, “We have not been approached or offered anything official.” While playing for England under-17s, he beats players from the Premier League and then gets regular games and scores in League One. We don’t think that person won’t be watching him.
“We are sure that will happen. I can only say that his family is great. He has been here since the beginning (under-nine level) and really likes Port Vale. We’re happy with how things are going for him here.
“He plays for Port Vale, and I know that everyone in the club, from the manager of the first team to the members, thinks he’s a good person and a great asset for the team.” We’ll wait and see what comes next.
