Jadon Sancho expresses his desire to continue playing for Borussia Dortmund next season, but financial constraints prevent the German club from meeting Manchester United’s asking price for him.
According to SportBILD, Dortmund is relying on Sancho to persuade Manchester United to negotiate his departure. Despite a successful loan spell since returning in January, Dortmund faces challenges due to Manchester United’s demands.
Sancho’s loan agreement with Dortmund expires in the summer, and there’s no purchase option included, setting the stage for challenging negotiations with Manchester United.
Dortmund maintains regular communication with Sancho’s representatives, receiving positive indications about his long-term commitment to the club.
Sancho feels content in Dortmund, having endured a difficult period at Manchester United.
However, Dortmund’s financial limitations restrict them to offering a transfer fee of approximately €30m. Concrete negotiations with Manchester United are planned around this figure.
It remains uncertain whether Manchester United would agree to such terms, considering the significant loss they would incur compared to Sancho’s initial transfer fee.
Sancho could play a pivotal role in negotiations by advocating for his departure from Manchester United and potentially accepting a reduced salary. Dortmund’s offer is limited to €9m per year, but any salary savings could be allocated towards his transfer fee.
While another loan deal hasn’t been ruled out entirely, both clubs prefer a permanent solution.
Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastien Kehl, intends to initiate discussions with Manchester United to explore viable options ahead of the summer transfer window.
