Amad Diallo, a young player for Manchester United who has yet to start a game this season, has ‘earned more minutes,’ according to Erik ten Hag.
The Ivory Coast international was anticipated to contribute significantly this season following an outstanding loan at Sunderland the previous year, but a summertime knee injury kept him out of the game until the end of the campaign.
Amad returned to play at the end of December, but in eight of United’s previous 13 Premier League games, he was not used as a substitute.
In United’s thrilling FA Cup triumph against Liverpool last month, he came off the bench to score the game-winning goal. Despite the team’s collapse, he also made a positive and animated appearance against Coventry City this past weekend.
The 21-year-old has only played 172 minutes this season, despite United’s injury problems, and many supporters would like to see more of him.
Even though he plays in the one area of the field where the Dutchman is provided with alternatives, Ten Hag now acknowledges that Amad should have had more playing time and opportunities this season. Despite this, he is extremely delighted with Amad’s improvement.
Ten Hag responded, “Amad deserves it [to play more], but don’t forget he was injured for a long period of the season,” when asked about the winger’s lack of opportunities.

However, I would argue that he played in a position that wasn’t his finest. He performed admirably despite having to play in the middle after starting as a striker.
But there’s a lot of competition there, we have a lot of guys in that area, and he’s already earned more minutes, in my opinion.
However, I have to make a decision there because we have Omari Forson, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, and him.
We therefore need to make decisions there because there are a lot of guys in that position.
However, I am pleased with his accomplishments, his growth, and his attributes. He possesses certain tools that will be very helpful to our team.
With Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay being forced off the field during the FA Cup, United are worried about the fitness of a number of players. Ten Hag feels additional players may need to play out of position, much like Casemiro did against Coventry.
When asked if he would have to rethink his lineup, the Dutchman said, “And still we perform.” Additionally, even if it takes a lot of creativity, we will be inventive and present a team capable of winning that match against Sheffield United.
