“From what I hear…”: Fabrizio Romano issues huge transfer update involving Mason Greenwood

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dismissed claims suggesting Manchester United are considering using Mason Greenwood as part of a deal to acquire Juventus center-back Gleison Bremer. United, eyeing defensive reinforcements, have identified Bremer as a top target for the upcoming transfer window.

With a reported release clause ranging between €60 and €70 million, United had allegedly pondered the idea of including Greenwood in their pursuit of Bremer to potentially sway Juventus into lowering their asking price for the defender.

Greenwood’s future is a prominent topic that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS will likely address during the summer. The Englishman, currently on loan at La Liga outfit Getafe, has garnered interest from several clubs vying to secure his services and offer him a new home.

Among these admirers, Juventus stands out, viewing Greenwood as a valuable addition to reinforce their attacking lineup, according to former United goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

However, Romano refutes the notion that Juventus holds a strong interest in Greenwood, suggesting that they have other priorities and options for their squad. He stated, “I don’t think Juventus will go for Mason Greenwood. From what I hear, they have different options in those positions. It is not a priority for them.” Romano further clarified, “At the moment I am not aware of any contact between Juventus and Greenwood.”

The Italian journalist emphasized that Manchester United’s pursuit of Gleison Bremer is not contingent on Greenwood’s involvement in any potential deal. This suggests that United may need to pursue a straightforward approach in their quest to secure Bremer for Erik ten Hag’s defensive lineup.

In the meantime, Greenwood has been in impressive form for Getafe, tallying eight goals and five assists in 28 appearances across all competitions. His stellar performances are likely to attract interest from various clubs seeking to secure his signature.
