Luke Shaw Biography: Shaw is a professional football player who plays for Manchester United in England. Born in Kingston upon Thames, England, on July 12, 1995 Luke Shaw, who was raised in Molesey, Surrey. He Attended Chandlers Field Primary School and Rydens Enterprise School. During his days at Rydens Enterprise School, he was part of the school’s under 15 team that reached the famous English schools FA Cup semi-finals.

Shaw began playing football on grassroot level with Hersham and Molesey Juniors. While growing up so was a die hard Chelsea supporter who sees former Chelsea’s footballer Ashley Cole as his idol. Although he played at the Chelsea development Center in Guildford, unfortunately he wasn’t accepted into the Chelsea Academy team setup.

Club Career

Southampton

Luke Shaw started his football career in the famous Southampton Football academy. At the age of seven in 2002 Luke Shaw was admitted into the southern team youth academy set up.

Shaw showed his talent as a promising player who will go on to have a great career. At just the age of 15, Luke has already become a regular player in the Southampton U18 team setup. Judging by how fast he was growing into the game, it was only a matter of time before he’ll be recruited into the senior team.

He first came in contact with the first team football when in September 2011 he was recruited into the first team setup that played against Preston North end in a league cup match, although he was an unused substitute in that game.

In the 2013 to 2014 season Luke Shaw was ever present in Southampton first team setup, he made 38 appearances in all competition, setting up three goals in the process. Manchester United, 2014-Till Date

Shaw’s scintillating performances at Southampton meant it won’t be long before a big team comes lurking from him. That eventually happened when on the 27th of June 2014, Manchester United announced that they have agreed a deal with Southampton Football Club subject to a medical for English left back Luke Shaw.

The deal was thought to be in the region of 30 million pounds, with Luke Shaw signing a 4 years contract which comes with an option for a further year. The signing confirmed Luke Shaw as the most expensive teenager in world football as of 2014. The competition to sign Luke Shaw was rift, Manchester United were able to fight off last ditch efforts from Premier League rivals Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Luke Shaw joined his new teammates to the United States of America where they were on a pre-season tour, he played 45 minutes in Manchester United 7:0 demolition of La Galaxy. His good form was hampered before the start of the season after suffering from a hamstring injury that ruled him out for more than four weeks.

After returning from the hamstring injury, Luke Shaw made his competitive debut for Manchester United on 27th September 2014 in a 2:1 win against West Ham at Old Trafford. Shaw continued to prove his worth for Manchester United, which culminated in his name being shortlisted with 39 others for the Golden boy Award In October 2024.

His Manchester United career continued in fantastic form until he was injured in a Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven by Hector Moreno. The sliding tackle caused a double leg fracture for Luke Shaw; he was stretched out with oxygen. It took him six months to return to fitness. His return to the matchday squad coincided with Manchester United’s 2:1 community shield final’s victory over Leicester.

Luke Shaw has made over 350 appearances for both Manchester United and Southampton, scoring four times and providing 33 assists in the process.

Shaw has been ever-present in the English national team since making his debut on February 27, 2014, in the game against Denmark. He was named in Roy Hodgson’s 2024 FIFA World Cup 23-Man Squad, becoming the youngest player to appear in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Shaw was part of the Euro 2020 squad; he scored just within 2 minutes in what was the fastest goal in an European championship final against Italy. Luke Shaw also participated in the just-concluded 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
