According to reports from the Mirror, Manchester United are considering a move for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite in the upcoming transfer window. United are reportedly looking to bolster their defensive options after a disappointing season, and they see Branthwaite as a player with a bright future who could strengthen their backline.
Financial difficulties at Everton may make them open to selling Branthwaite if they receive a lucrative offer. Despite having over three years left on his contract, Everton could demand a fee of around £75 million for the 21-year-old defender.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag prefers to deploy a left-footed defender on the left side of defense, and Branthwaite could fill that role. The absence of Lisandro Martínez has left United struggling this season, highlighting the need for depth in defence.

Jarrad Branthwaite was born in 2002. He started with Carlisle United and made his senior debut in 2019 at the age of 17. Everton signed him in 2020, and he impressed rapidly, making his Premier League debut later that year.
In 2022, he was loaned out to PSV Eindhoven’s reserve squad to get playing time. He returned to Everton in 2023, breaking into the starting lineup and becoming an important player.
Represented England at the U19, U20, and most recently U21 levels, including the 2023 European Championship victory.

According to Everton manager Sean Dyche, the club is not in a position where they need to sell Jarrad Branthwaite, despite reported interest from clubs like Manchester United. Dyche emphasised that Everton is not looking to offload good players unless necessary, and at present, there is no such necessity.
Dyche stated, “The club does not want to sell out any players. It’s as simple as that, and he’s proven to be a very good player. We’re not in the business of trying to sell players.”
The uncertainty surrounding Everton’s ownership situation, with ongoing takeover talks and financial challenges, adds to the precariousness of the situation. Dyche’s hope is that Everton won’t need to sell players in the summer transfer window.
