An Italian news site called Calciomercato says that Manchester United wants to sign Juventus player Adrien Rabiot for free.
The French player has been wanted by the Red Devils for a long time, and they first wanted to sign him in the summer of 2022. Erik ten Hag wanted to bring him to Old Trafford to improve his middle, but a disagreement over personal terms made the deal fall through at the last minute.
The news site Calciomercato now says that Manchester United might try again to get his services. Rabiot’s current contract with the Bianconeri ends at the end of June.
Reports say that talks about a new long-term deal have stopped between Juventus, the player’s lawyer, and his mother, Veronique.
Newcastle United and Manchester United are both said to be interested in signing the 29-year-old star, who wants to play in the Premier League.
Not likely deal
Ten Hag said that Rabiot was one of his main trade goals for the summer of 2022. The boss called the £34 million star and persuaded him to join the club.
However, the club did not want to pay him what he wanted. Even though Rabiot lost, he decided to stay, which turned out to be a good thing.
Rabiot scored 11 goals and set up 6 others last season while playing as the no. 8 player. Even though he’s been hurt four times this season, he still has four goals and three helpers.
The big question is whether ten Hag will be able to agree to a deal. United is said to be back in the hunt for his name.
The last time around, United’s board wasn’t sold on the player, which is why his price demands were not met. They might not want to sign the 29-year-old since Sir Jim Ratcliffe has taken over as manager. It might be more important to sign stars for the long term than to make a quick deal for the next few seasons.
