Tyrell Malacia, a Manchester United defender, has been seen doing some gym training as he attempts to overcome an injury nightmare that has kept him inactive since last summer.
The Dutch defender missed United’s pre-season tour of the United States due to a knee injury and has yet to return to training, despite original expectations that he would be back by the end of last year.
Malacia had knee surgery last summer, but a setback during his recuperation necessitated another treatment. Erik ten Hag revealed in March that the 24-year-old would be unlikely to return to action before the season’s finish.
“I think it’s going to be difficult for this season to be available,” he said of Malacia’s condition. “He will fight, he’s back on the pitch, but not in the team and the process had some setbacks and is still going really slowly forward, and the season is going to an end.”
Malacia’s extended layoff has sparked a lot of conspiracy theories about his whereabouts, but he seems to be in fine form as he approaches a return to action.
He is still not anticipated to return to play anytime soon, but he has been seen doing some gym training as he attempts to make up for missed time in a United jersey.
Instagram user ‘@iiszzyy_’ shared a video of the former Feyenoord defender doing weights. It’s the first time he’s been seen on social media since his prolonged layoff was announced.
