This summer, Manchester United supporters may witness the arrival of a new manager at Old Trafford and the possible departure of several former United managers.
After an impressive first season on the hot seat, Erik ten Hag has struggled in his second season at United.
Having intervened and taken over management of the football activities at Old Trafford, that forces Ineos to make a choice.
Since months ago, new managers have been connected to United, and it’s possible that Ineos wants their own man in the hot seat.
Liverpool and Bayern Munich are set to press for manager appointments throughout the summer, making it a veritable managerial merry-go-round.
West Ham, AC Milan, and Juventus might also be looking for a new manager, giving United competition should Ineos decide to fire Ten Hag.
This summer, there’s a chance that some former United managers will be moving on to other things besides club football.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might get a new position.
Since his dismissal as United’s manager in November 2021, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not held a managerial position.
Few other teams have been willing to take a risk on Solskjaer, despite the fact that his nearly three-year tenure as United’s manager went better than many anticipated.
According to the London Evening Standard, Solskjaer has been contacted about a possible contract to take over as head of Canada.
It is said that Frank Lampard has decided he does not want to pursue a career in international management, and Jose Mourinho has previously turned down one offer.
In an attempt to make a major hire, Canada has now turned to Solskjaer and reached out to former Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch.
As co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup, Canada appears to be looking for a well-known player to guide them into the competition.
Now that Solskjaer is available, Canada may consider using him to teach players like Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David in the future.
Moving on: other former United bosses?
This summer, Solskjaer might take on the role of manager for the United States, but he might not be the only previous manager to leave the team.
Though he has performed admirably at West Ham United, David Moyes’ contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
Numerous Premier League teams will undoubtedly show interest in the Scot as it becomes more and more apparent that Moyes will be leaving.
And there’s the previously mentioned Mourinho, who departed Roma earlier this year and will undoubtedly be trying to return this summer.
Even while “The Special One” may not have been as successful as he once was, Mourinho will always have fans, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see him return to coaching this summer.
Louis van Gaal, who is currently an advisor at Ajax, might even be involved in a managerial choice this summer.
There are persistent suggestions that the Amsterdam giants may want to re-appoint Ten Hag as their new manager this summer.
It appears that United’s previous managers will be penning new chapters in their histories this summer as Ineos considers hiring a new management of their own.
