Regarding a summer transfer to Old Trafford, Manchester United and Jeremie Frimpong’s agents from Bayer Leverkusen have had “concrete” conversations.
Former Manchester City player, the Dutchman has flourished under Xabi Alonso’s Bundesliga-winning team.
This season, the 23-year-old helped Leverkusen win their first German Bundesliga championship in club history with 10 goals and 8 assists.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had targeted Frimpong in 2021 after he had enjoyed two prosperous years with Celtic.
Diogo Dalot has performed well at right back this season, but since Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw are injured, he is often called upon to play left back.
Given that Aaron Wan-Bissaka may leave this summer, United wants competition on the right side.
Furthermore, Christian Falk of Bild reports that in order to negotiate a transfer to Old Trafford, United and Frimpong’s agents have had “concrete” negotiations.
According to reports, United may face competition from Bayern Munich for Frimpong’s signature.
Frimpong’s contract has a £34 million release clause, however it needs to be used before to the European Championships.
Considering that United is unlikely to make it into the Champions League, its summer spending will probably be severely curtailed.
The team is already leery of its standing in Financial Fair Play.
