“It’s not our job to be worried”: Bruno Fernandes insists Man United footballers are not upset by Erik ten Hag sack speculations – Man United News And Transfer News | The Peoples Person
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has claimed that he and his teammates aren’t concerned about Erik ten Hag’s future.
It has been claimed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS may make a management change at the conclusion of the season due to United’s dismal performance.
Ten Hag’s performances and achievements have often fallen short of expectations, and his position at Old Trafford is thought to be in jeopardy.
The Dutchman’s chances of staying in charge of United were further undermined over the weekend after his team squandered a commanding 3-0 lead over Coventry City in normal time.
United led 3-0 with 20 minutes remaining, but disintegrated when Coventry scored their first goal of the game. Mark Robins’ men would go on to score two more goals, forcing the game into overtime.
Fortunately for Ten Hag, the Red Devils averted more disgrace by winning the penalty shootout and advancing to the final, where they will meet defending Premier League winner Manchester City.
The 20-time English champions have been connected with a number of prominent managers as potential replacements for Ten Hag, with Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel the most recent name to be mentioned.
After the final whistle at Wembley, Fernandes talked with media and was questioned about Ten Hag and the potential of his dismissal.
The captain of the team remarked, “That doesn’t have to affect anyone because we have to focus on everything we have this season because we have still chances to get in European positions in the league, we have to finish as high as possible, that’s the main thing.”
“Then we have the FA Cup final to play. So no one should be concerned because it is not our responsibility to be concerned about these things that come from the outside, the inside, or elsewhere.”
“We have the owners who take care of that, we have the directors and then we players it’s about performing on the pitch and giving our best.”
United’s next Premier League game will be against Sheffield United.
Sheffield United are trying to avoid relegation and will definitely seek to trigger a major shock by winning on Wednesday.
Despite hobbling off at the conclusion of the game against Coventry and wearing a strapping on his wrist, Fernandes said that he would be healthy and ready to face the Blades.
