Manchester United suffer fresh triple injury blow ahead of Coventry City clash

Willy Kambwala, Sofyan Amrabat, and Mason Mount are all expected to miss Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City on Sunday.

During the Red Devils’ news conference on Friday afternoon, head coach Erik ten Hag made no mention of the trio’s probable fitness difficulties.

However, the Dutchman said that the squad “has some problems,” with late choices seeming to be required on players carrying injuries.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Kambwala, Amrabat, and Mount were not present when the Manchester United team boarded the train to London on Saturday.

According to the source, 18-year-old Louis Jackson has been elevated to the first-team squad, despite Man United’s defensive troubles in the final parts of the season.

Kambwala, Amrabat, and Mount might all miss the Coventry clash.
Kambwala was scheduled to start with Harry Maguire at centre-back against Coventry, with Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Jonny Evans, and Victor Lindelof on the bench.

However, owing to the team’s injury problems, Casemiro may be forced to play in the centre of the defence against the Championship side.

Mount has just recently returned to duty after recovering from a calf injury at the end of last month, but he may now face another time on the sidelines.

Amrabat, meantime, has struggled to find his best form for Manchester United after joining on loan from Fiorentina, and the 27-year-old might be sidelined.

Man United’s young players might play an important role.

Harry Amass, Habeeb Ogunneye, and Ethan Wheatley seem to have been called to the squad with Jackson, with all four looking to make their first-team debuts.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to stay at left-back, but an injury to the Englishman or Diogo Dalot might force the highly regarded Amass into action.

Despite the triple injury blow, Maguire looks to have been deemed fit, with the centre-back healing from the injury he sustained against Bournemouth the last time out.

Antony and Scott McTominay are also expected to participate, with the duo training this week, while Omari Forson and Amad Diallo have travelled to London with their colleagues.

Manchester United has won the FA Cup 12 times, the latest time in 2016, when they lost to Manchester City in the final last year.
