Mason Mount Biography: Mason Tony Mount is an English professional football player, born on the 10th of January 1999 in Portsmouth, Hampshire. He plays for Manchester United Football club in England. Mount was raised by his parents Derby and Tony Mount in Portsmouth.

Mount’s Father was an Ex football player, during his playing days, he played in Non-League before coaching some local clubs like Havern Town. Mount Played for United Service Portsmouth as a kid, he also had a brief stint at Boarhunt Rovers. His idols while growing up were Chelsea legend Frank, Lampard, Real Madrid legend Luka Modrić and FC Barcelona Legend Andrés Iniesta.

Club Career

Chelsea

Mount joined the Chelsea Youth Academy side in 2005 with the aim of progressing his football career. While only 18, Mason Mount was promoted to the senior team of Chelsea Football club after performing very well at the under 18s. He was very instrumental in the 2016/2017 under18 Premier League season, where he scored 10 goals in 30 games for The Chelsea Youth Academy.

Vitesse Arnhem On Loan

As an 18-year-old, finding first team opportunities at Chelsea was difficult for Mason Mount.
He joined Vitesse Arnhem on a Season long loan from Chelsea. On August 26th, Mount made his first team debut for Vitesse after coming on in the 77th as a substitute in a 2:1 home defeat against AZ Alkmaar.

Two months later, he went on to score his first goal for Vitesse Arnhem in the 1:1 draw against Utrecht on 1st October 2017. Mount’s massive performances for Vitesse earned him a place in the Eredivisie team of the year. Mason Mount was also crowned Vitesse Arnhem player of the Year.

He made a total of 39 appearances doing his time at Vitesse scoring 14 times in the process before returning to Chelsea.

Derby County Loan

After a successful loan spell at Vitesse Arnhem, Mason returned to Chelsea. On 17 July 2018, Chelsea announced that the Englishman will be joining championship side Derby County on a season long loan.

On 3rd August 2018 during a 2:1 away victory at Reading, Mount scored a 60th minute equalizer in what was his debut for his new club, however he got a hamstring injury while playing against Accrington Stanley in an FA Cup game.

He was sidelined for two months, making his return in a 6:1 victory over Rotherham United.

Mason scored his second senior career hat-trick after Derby County demolished their opponent 4:0. Mount had an impressive season at Derby County, where he made 35 appearances, scoring eight times in the process.

Returns to Chelsea (First Full Season)

After having impressive stints at Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County, Chelsea announced on 15 July 2019 that Mason Mount has signed a new 5-Year contract with the club which will keep him at the club until 2024.

In August, he made his Premier League debut for Chelsea in the game against Manchester United where the Blues were beaten 4:0. Just 3 days after they were thrashed by Manchester United, He scored his first goal of the season against West Bromwich Albion in a 3:3 Draw.

His first European cup goal came in a 2:0 defeat of FC Porto during the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League on the 7th of April. That goal enabled Mount to become the youngest ever Chelsea player to score a Champions League goal in the knockout phase of a Champions League game.

He marked his 100th appearance for Chelsea Football club during a 1:1 Champions League first leg semi-final draw against Real Madrid in Santiago Bernabéu. During the second leg at Stamford bridge, Mount scored and helped Chelsea to progress to the Champions League finals.

On 29th May, Mount was in the line-up in what was to be his biggest ever game for Chelsea football club. It was the Champions League final against Manchester City in Porto. Mount provided an assist as Kai Havertz ‘lone goal was enough to give Chelsea their second Champions League trophy in history. This was, ideally, Mount’s First trophy for Chelsea, he was equally named Chelsea’s player of the season.

The 2021/2022 Season started with the Super Cup against Villarreal, Mount was called on to score the fourth penalty during the penalty shoot-out against Villarreal in which Chelsea defeated Villarreal 6:5 on penalties to win their second Super Cup finals.

Mount was nominated for the 2021 Ballon d’Or which was eventually won by Lionel Messi. Mount came 19th in the ranking. On 23rd October, he scored his first ever hat trick for Chelsea in the 7:0 thrashing of Norwich City at home in the Premier League. By the end of the season, he was named Chelsea player of the season for the second time in a row.

During the 2022 to 2023 season due to injuries. First team opportunities became limited for Mount. He made a total of 129 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 27 times and providing 17 assists.

Manchester United

After some protracted negotiation, Chelsea announced on the 5th of July 2023 that they have accepted a guaranteed transfer fee of 55 million pounds plus 5 million in add-ons for Mount to transfer to Manchester United.

Mount signed for Manchester United on a 5 years deal with an option to a further year. His career at Manchester United hasn’t been off to the best start after being affected by a series of injuries. He is yet to score a goal for his new club, but Manchester United manager Eric Ten Hag is confident that Mount will soon pick form.

International Career

Mount made his debut for the English national team side on September 7th 2019 during a 4:0 home trashing of Bulgaria in a UEFA euro 2020 qualifying match.

He scored his first goal for the English national team side on 17th of November in a 4:0 away win against Kosovo in the 2020 UEFA Euro qualifying games. He has made over 36 appearances for the English team, scoring five times in the process.
