Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s camp admires one manager who might be interested in discussing the Manchester United position this summer if Erik ten Hag was ousted as manager.
Erik ten Hag’s future is uncertain. The Dutchman guided Manchester United to the FA Cup final.
However, the style of their win against Coventry City at Wembley Stadium has not hushed his critics.
According to ESPN, the Manchester United leadership has yet to decide on Ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford.
The 50-year-old boss is open to negotiations with Manchester United.
However, if United opt to replace ten Hag, one manager is interested in the position.
Thomas Tuchel is in his last few games as Bayern Munich’s manager. Despite a terrible season in the Bundesliga, the Bavarian giants might yet complete the year as European champions.
Tuchel’s status has not improved much during his time at Bayern. However, ESPN believes that he has backing from Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s group. Representatives want to be kept updated on the 50-year-old’s predicament.
According to the report, Tuchel is willing to begin negotiations with Manchester United if ten Hag leaves.
Thomas Tuchel will have plenty of fans among the disgruntled crowd.
If United were to replace ten Hag at the conclusion of the season, Tuchel may be a good candidate.
Ultimately, United has sought to move ahead under a variety of managers since Sir Alex Ferguson. And the level of success has been modest.
So it will be intriguing to watch what route they take after Ten Hag leaves the club. Ratcliffe’s fingerprints will appear on the first management appointment.
However, resorting to Tuchel may not thrill the fans. It’s been over a decade since the German managed more than 130 games at a single club. So he may not be the long-term solution.
However, he has received several accolades during his career. And this season might possibly culminate with him winning the Champions League.
So it would make a lot of sense for United to look at Tuchel if ten Hag’s contract expires this summer.
