Sir Jim Ratcliffe meets super agent with Manchester United linked to two mega-money transfers

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a co-owner of Manchester United, is said to have talked with star agent Jorge Mendes about how the club should hire players.

A lot of people in the football world know Mendes, who works as a manager for famous players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva, Darwin Nunez, and Pedro Neto. Ratcliffe is currently changing how United runs its business and how it finds new players.

Also, Dan Ashworth from Newcastle United will be the Sporting Director and Jason Wilcox from Southampton will be the Technical Director. The new boss is going to be very involved in adding new players because he didn’t like how the club hired players before.

Ratcliffe wants to use Mendes’s knowledge of the transfer market because he knows how influential he is. Wolves and Nottingham Forest, two teams that depend a lot on Mendes’ players, have both had success with this strategy.

Now, United wants to do the same thing. They already have their eye on Benfica player Joao Neves, who is a client of Mendes. Ratcliffe sees the 19-year-old Portugal international as a young, driven player who wants to make a difference.

United has been interested in AC Milan’s superstar Rafael Leao, who is also managed by Mendes. However, his £100 million price tag makes it less likely that he will move to Old Trafford than Neves, according to the Mirror.

Ratcliffe played down the idea of spending a lot of money on great players earlier this month: “That’s not where our focus is,” he said. He pointed out the wrong way of doing things over the last ten years: “The answer isn’t spending a lot of money on a few great players.” That’s what they’ve done for ten years.

Ratcliffe said that the club needed a strong base: “The first thing we need to do is make sure we hire the right people and put the right people in charge of running and organising the club.” Finding new players is such an important part of running a sports club these days.
