In the race to sign Torino right back Raoul Bellanova, Manchester United is up against Aston Villa.
Due to a lack of depth in their group, Man United may want to make signing a new fullback a top goal during the next transfer window.
United’s main left backs, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, are both hurt, so the team has had to rely on right backs Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to fill in for them. Dalot and Wan-Bissaka often take turns playing left back while the other plays their natural position at right back.
Still, United might not have as much backup at the back if Wan-Bissaka leaves at the end of the season. Reports say that Inter Milan is one of the teams that wants to sign the full-back.
United seems to be getting ready for the chance that Wan-Bissaka will leave. According to The Peoples Person, the club sent scouts to watch 23-year-old Raoul Bellanova play.
The story says that United’s scouts have been pleased with how the Italian has played for Torino this season. Considering how well he’s been playing in Serie A this season, this makes sense.
It’s clear that Bellanova is good on offense; he has one goal and six helpers, and he completes 58% of his dribbles.
But he hasn’t forgotten about his defensive tasks; he makes 0.9 stops per game and wins 63% of his ground battles. He has also made 85% of the passes he has tried. (Sofa melody)
United may have a harder time than thought bringing the young player to Old Trafford because they are not the only team interested in him.
The website CalcioMercato said that Aston Villa is interested in Bellanova.
Sport Witness said that when Villa tried to sign him in January, the move was stopped by Torino’s boss Urbano Cairo. Even though both United and Villa have shown interest in the player, neither has made a firm offer for him, the story said.
Still, United would have to deal with Bellanova’s present club even if they were able to get his attention over their Premier League rival. Toscana wants to keep him at the club for next season, so they are not interested in any deals, the story said.
United might have a hard time getting Torino to let go of the player because of this. Their offer would probably have to be higher than the €7 million plus bonuses that Torino paid to get him from Cagliari.
United might have to make a financial decision about this deal since they need to fill big holes in other parts of the team as well.
