Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford, has reportedly been linked to Manchester United and other teams, and his asking price has been lowered to £30 million.
The England international has also been strongly connected with Chelsea and West Ham, although Arsenal have now cooled their interest in him in favour of other targets.
If you pay an additional £22 per month to Sky Sports, you can watch all four days of The Masters live.
Many Premier League fans rank Toney among the league‘s top attackers. After returning from suspension with a bang last season, he scored 20 goals in the league and has already scored four in thirteen games this season. Throughout his career, he has made 414 appearances and scored 169 goals.
The 28-year-old has made no secret of his desire to join a big club this summer, and with his contract expiring in 2025, Brentford will likely trade him.
Many publications have speculated that Toney may be sold for as cheap as £30 million, so it’s clear that he’s in high demand.
Because of Erik ten Hag’s request to Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Manchester United are interested in signing Toney or another seasoned number nine to challenge Rasmus Hojlund, a young player.
Ivan Toney’s accusation is laughed aside by Thomas Frank
Thomas Frank was questioned at Friday’s news conference on the rumoured £30 million price tag for Toney as well as the connections to Manchester United.
“Under normal circumstances, I refrain from reading these price labels,” Frank grinned.
For a Premier League striker who scores 20 goals every season, I think that £30 million is a steal.
Considering the amount of interest in Toney’s signing, Brentford should be able to fetch a significant sum for him, even though they may not be in a good negotiation position because of his contract predicament.
When questioned about a possible sale at the conclusion of last season, Frank said that £100 million was a more accurate assessment of his worth.
“One hundred million and more?” It was Frank who mentioned Toney’s appraisal.
I am very proud of Ivan and all he has accomplished here; I know he still has a lot of room to grow and succeed. Being a Brentford player makes me very delighted.
It will be intriguing to see who takes the first decisive action in the competition, since it appears that Toney will be looking to leave Brentford this summer.
Reports indicate that West Ham are hell-bent on making the forward their next major statement signing, despite Manchester United’s hesitant interest.
Man United Needs a striker, Erik ten Hag demands
The fact that Ten Hag believes Manchester United need to bring in a new striker this summer is no secret.
So far this Premier League season, Hojlund has done a good job for Manchester United, scoring seven goals. However, the manager has made it clear that he wants to bring in a new striker to challenge Hojlund for playing time.
“We require additional choices,” Ten Hag said on Friday.
Every position requires double positioning. Our performance suffered because we were unable to field a strong team in key positions this season, such as striker and left defender.
Man Utd has a shortlist that includes Toney, Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig, Alexander Isak of Newcastle, Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna, and a number of others.
A new centre striker might be on Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s summer transfer wish list if he gives in to Ten Hag’s demands.
